Word for the Day: Schwag
Author: Tala =)
Swag (also schwag), noun: 1. promotional toys given freely by companies in a attempt to get you to use their product or service; 2. Booty; 3. good swag: food, chocolate, items that have a high monetary value; bad swag: tooth brush, keychain, absolutely useless trinkets that a even monkey would find completely pointless. (from System Administrator Appreciation Day)
read comments (0)1 Hour of SharpReader, a plethora of interesting articles
Author: Tala =)
I couldn’t help it. I installed SharpReader on the laptop. It just didn’t seem right, not being able to get my news round the clock. =p I imported my subscriptions from the desktop.
Some interesting discoveries: 1.) The Superficial is syndicated! 2.) A very interesting article about broadband being the key to South Korea’s success. This was Slashdotted. 3.) Yahoogroups can now be syndicated as well. Just configure your Archive settings to Public and the wittle orange RSS button appears at the front page.
New word for the day: minihompy.
Definition: the Korean version of a blog/personal homepages (like blogs == mini hompages); provides a personal outlet for all the information that netizens have accumulated on their hard drives- from funny photos to touching compositions - which can be shared through a network of people (The Granite Tower)
Found this word in this article from The Granite Tower, the campus English journal of Korea University. I sure would appreciate more information about this word. =p

The OBJADDE Cramming Session Part 1
Author: Tala =)
Reading: Chapter 6: Use-case Model: Writing Requirements In Context
Listening To: Explosive - Bond
I need more Mp3s of classical music for study sessions. Thank God for Bond. The silene was 1)making me sleepy 2)driving me nuts.
So far so good, I’m making progress. My goal is to finish reading till Chapter 8 by 3am. I’ll wake Nix up so he can do some Psych work and then sleep till 9 or 10am. Then I’ll do Chapters 9-13 so that in the evening, all I have to do is go through my notes. The notes are gonna be helpful for finals. The PDF is actually a good reference. I guess I started reading it with an unfair bias against it (that it was boring), mostly due to the fact that my teacher is soooo boring. Honestly? I don’t think he fully understands the PDF himself, thus the poor excuse for a lecture during class.
Okay, breaktime over, gotta hit the books once more.
I’d rather program than read this

Reading: Applying UML and Patterns
Listening To: Nix breathing
I have an OBJADDE exam on Tuesday. *Groan* The coverage is Chapters 1-13 of the oh-so boring PDF. I can’t seem to focus. I keep getting distracted. Argh! Okay, some of it isn’t that boring. I’m just too lazy to hit the books, and too restless to concentrate. Maybe a cup of coffee will help. Any excuse to drink coffee… =p Hmm, maybe I’ll take a break and level Butter up a bit. =p
