I Smell Bacon

Veronica Mars Season 2 Finale: Not Pictured. Because Cassidy/Beaver wasn’t in Woody’s Little League picture.

I am going to ramble, I just know it.

The highlights:

1. Vinnie tries to cut a deal with Keith to hunt down Woody and split the $20k reward. Vinne is in jail for breaking into Woody’s house, but he was able to access Woody’s tax and medical records.
2. Veronica learns that Woody had chlamydia. Keith learns that Woody is in Reno.
3. Veronica dreams of graduation day with Lily still alive. Her dad is still Sheriff, her mom still lives with them. Veronica is still an 09er. Her cap and gown gets switched with Wallace’s, whom she doesn’t know. Lily takes a break from Vassar to attend their graduation. And most importantly (for a LoVe shipper like me), Veronica is with Logan. Even with Lily alive.
   Logan: Aww sweetie, I love you, but you have to be the most guillible girl I’ve ever met. (kisses her)
   Veronica: I’m trusting. Sue me.
4. Weevil doesn’t graduate. That asshat, Sheriff Lamb arrests him for the Murder of Thumper.
5. Veronica gives the Principal some advice about not keeping his passwords under his stapler. LOL.
6. Veronica’s reaction when Keith hands her a sealed envelope (containing a plane ticket to New York): A PONY?! So adorable.
7. Keith tasers Woody, who denies blowing up and crashing the bus, but admits to being a child molester.
8. Veronica sees the Little League picture, with Beaver/Cassidy not pictured and figures out that it was Beaver.
9. Beaver got the explosives from Curly, whom he promptly killed, because Curly told Weevil he knew who blew the bus up. He killed Peter and Marcos because they were going to expose Woody for the child molester that he is. Beaver blew up the bus. Beaver raped Veronica. He also killed Woody (and, everyone thought, Keith) by blowing up his plane.
10. Beaver kills himself by jumping off the roof: “MY NAME IS CASSIDY!” It was so heart breaking. Most especially when Logan couldn’t think of one reason why he shouldn’t jump and end his life.
11. Mac on the floor crying, saying, “He took my clothes. He took everything. Why?”
12. Clarence killing Aaron (I assume, on Duncan’s orders).
    Duncan on the phone: CW?
    Clarence Weidmann: It’s a done deal.
    Hmm, a reference to VM’s Season 3 renewal at the CW Network? I sure hope so!
13. Keith is alive.
14. A cliffhanger. Veronica is at the airport, waiting for Keith, who doesn’t show up.
15. A whole LOT of LoVe. Logan helps Veronica with Beaver (“You’re not a killer, Veronica. Give me the gun.”).

I really really hate Lamb right now. The least he could do was let Weevil march. I was actually hoping that Principal Clemmons (sp?) would be sympathetic and call Weevil to the stage, just so he can graduate before the arrest. Give him some sympathy man! On the other hand, Lamb’s self-centeredness and media whoreship saved Keith’s life. Oh Lamb, to love you or hate you, that is the question.

I’m kind of a Beaver-Mac shipper, but I don’t think Beaver cried because he was trying to save Mac from getting chlamydia eventhough he loved her and wanted to make love with her. He cried because the abuse was still tormenting him. It haunts him even when he thinks he’s ready to have heterosexual, consesual sex (is this redundant?). Even when his plans of taking Woody and his Dad down have succeeded. Even if he loves Mac.

Amazing performance by Kyle Gallner as Cassidy/Beaver. I loved Beaver. He wasn’t an asshat like his brother Dick. I thought he and Mac made a cute couple. I sympathized everytime he was ignored by his father in favor of Dick Jr. I thought that he would wind up making the largest fortune among the 09ers (bigger than Duncan even), owning his own Fortune 500 company and not some inheritance from Dad. The smart and quiet ones really are the most dangerous.

Okay, before I gush about the LoVe part, the biggest question right now is, What’s in Kendall’s briefcase that causes Keith to pause and maybe help her out?

It could be money. A whole lot of money that Keith could use to send Veronica to Stanford, assuming she doesn’t get the Kane scholarship. I think by missing that final exam, she blew her chances on the scholarship. We don’t know where Logan is going for college. Probably not Stanford. Maybe Hearst? Veronica might want to stay for Logan. And the Keith Mars we know and love can’t be bought.

It could be some anti-Fitzpatrick evidence. Or anti-Dick Sr.? Maybe Kendall wants to break her ties with one or both. Whatever. I don’t want to think about it right now since there aren’t enough clues to get by. I’m just wondering if the briefcase will be a MacGuffin ala Pulp Fiction or Ronin. I want the series to have another season, but if this is the series finale (or, if those asshats at CW don’t renew this series), I am quite content. What a freakingly great, neo-noir way to end a series! There was LoVe, and there was a MacGuffin.

Now for a LoVe gush. OMGSQUEEEEE! Thank you, thank you, Rob Thomas, for Logan and Veronica! Logan is with Veronica even if Lily lived! Logan holds her after she puts the gun down and after Beaver makes the jump. He takes her home and holds her in his arms on the couch. Logan cooks breakfast (he can cook?!) for Veronica the next morning and consoles her when she cries for her (thought dead) father. They’re together by the end of the episode! Weeee! Hahaha, omg I’m gushing like a teenager. What the hell, I’m a fan.
