Inspiration Board #2

French blue and yellow. Cool on the eyes.

Inspiration Board #1

We haven’t finalized the shades of yellow and blue that we will be using. Well, for yellow, it’s almost certain to be marigold yellow, but for blue, we’re not sure if we’re going for a light or dark hue.

Venue Option #3

This might be it. It’s giving option #1 some tight competition. Its advantage? We can book now instead of waiting till June.

Thanks to the Moogle for helping us out with this one.

Venue Option #2

There was a kiddie birthday party when J– did his ocular. I like the ceiling. The entire area has 4 halls, each with varying capacity. We were interested in the South Hall because of capacity and layout. The “walls” of all 4 halls are glass. What if there was an event in the opposite hall? Our guests would be meeting their guests in the hallway, even sharing the restroom with them. Something to ponder on.

Bare pictures of the South Hall may be found here.

Venue Option #1

When we started looking for venues, we had to eliminate those who would not accept outside caterers. We didn’t want to limit our choices to the more popular (a.k.a mass market) wedding caterers who are accredited everywhere. Then we eliminated venues that charged a huge percentage for corkage fees for guest caterers. We were left with popular yet expensive wedding venues like The Blue Leaf and several clubhouses that didn’t have any preferred caterers and didn’t charge an arm and a leg for every piece of item we were going to bring in.

Here’s #1:

Ang Pagsasambahan

I will get flogged and go to hell for this post.

I’m not a fan of churches. I subscribe to that saying, “When you’ve seen one church, you’ve seen them all.”

We initially considered Villa San Miguel, more popularly known as Archbishop’s Palace.

But we learned that they weren’t accepting bookings for 2011 until September. I didn’t want to wait that long to finalize our church because everything else will revolve around the church booking. Suppliers don’t seem to take you seriously if you haven’t booked a church yet.

So we decided to scout around for other air-conditioned churches. Because we had a venue in mind, we kept our search in the Makati area. But further complications arose from our prospective venue so we decided on something a bit more central. Unfortunately, Christ the King in Greenmeadows was already fully booked for our date. Huwaaat?! Yeah.

And so finally, we have decided to hold the rites here:

Just say yes.

He proposed last February 6 at Antonio’s (Grill), over sisig and bulalo. No, I’m just kidding. It was at Antonio’s over steak. We originally wanted the wedding day to be on the 12th of July (our anniversary as a couple), but it won’t fall on a Saturday until year 2014. So we compromised on a date for next year. It’s been chaotic since we made that decision. I had no idea wedding preps could be this overwhelming. It’s as tedious as the office, lol.

We’ve already encountered some setbacks this early in the planning stage. We decided to go for the intimate Archbishop’s Palace instead of the more popular wedding churches, but we were told that they were not accepting bookings for 2011 until September. Huwaaat??!!! The whole idea of planning and booking early just went out of the window.

So while we’re reluctant to part with the Archbishop’s Palace, we’ve started scouting for alternative churches. Same story with the venue. They won’t start accepting bookings until June. This one, I’m quite willing to wait out, as we are also just starting our food tasting with our shortlist of caterers. The venue depends on who we will pick as our caterer, as most caterers have accreditation with popular wedding venues. That will save us some rental and/or corkage fees.

The lone supplier we’ve booked is my one non-negotiable, Mimi+Karl. For the rest, I’ve compiled my shortlist, complete with package and pricing comparisons. But I won’t start booking them until I’ve finalized the church, venue and caterer.

I’m glad J- is as hands on as I am with oculars, food tasting, and wedding preps in general. But some days, I just feel like it’s total chaos!
